Divorce, alimony, child custody—sadly terms we are all too familiar with. We at Hampton & Pigott are happy to help through these battles and difficult times. Although family separation has become a common scene in houses of justice, it’s not the only thing that happens. No, sometimes something magical happens in courtrooms across the country. Instead of tense hearings or legal jargon, the halls are filled with laughter, happy tears, and the sound of families finally coming together. This year, National Adoption Day will be celebrated on Saturday, November 22, 2025, and we at Hampton & Pigott couldn’t be happier to shine a light on this incredible event.

What National Adoption Day Is All About

National Adoption Day is a nationwide, grassroots effort to raise awareness for the more than 100,000 children in foster care waiting to find their forever homes in the United States. The event began in 1999 thanks to a coalition of organizations — including the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, the Alliance for Children’s Rights, and the Children’s Action Network — all united by one powerful goal: helping children find permanent, loving families.

Since then, the movement has grown immensely. Each year, on or around the Saturday before Thanksgiving, courts and organizations in more than 400 communities open their doors to finalize and celebrate adoptions. It’s a day filled with balloons, smiles, and stories that remind us what family really means. So far, National Adoption Day has recognized more than 90,000 children moving from foster care into permanent homes — and that number keeps growing.

Why This Day Matters

Here at Hampton & Pigott, we usually help families through the challenges of child custody and family law. But this month, we want to celebrate something that reminds us why this work is so important in the first place — families coming together. Adoption represents hope, healing, and the belief that every child deserves a safe place to grow and be loved.

Behind every finalized adoption are countless hours of dedication, patience, and faith — not just from the families adopting, but from social workers, attorneys, and community advocates who make these moments possible. It’s a beautiful reminder that even in a complicated world, there’s still so much good to celebrate.

How Hampton & Pigott Supports Families

Whether you’re adopting, navigating a custody arrangement, or dealing with other family law issues, our team understands the emotional and legal complexities that come with these cases. We take pride in guiding families through the process with care, compassion, and a deep understanding of what’s at stake.

From Our Family to Yours

As we move into the season of gratitude, we want to take a moment to be thankful — for the families who open their hearts, for the children who inspire us with their strength, and for the communities that make adoption possible.

This National Adoption Day, let’s celebrate every child who finds a forever home, every parent who said “yes,” and every person who helped make it happen.
