David J. Pigott, Esq.

David J. Pigott is a Colorado attorney and founding partner of Hampton & Pigott LLP. Licensed to practice before all Colorado county and district courts, the Colorado Court of Appeals, the Colorado Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court, Mr. Pigott represents clients in complex civil litigation, family law, and estate planning matters across the state.

Before establishing Hampton & Pigott, Mr. Pigott practiced at a general litigation firm in downtown Denver and served in multiple public-sector legal offices, including the Adams County District Attorney, the Manhattan District Attorney, and the Colorado Attorney General. His wide-ranging background provides clients with a pragmatic, results-driven perspective that blends private-sector efficiency with public-sector insight.

Mr. Pigott earned his Juris Doctor and MBA from the University of Colorado and holds a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

A U.S. Army officer, Mr. Pigott served over five years on active duty, completing two combat tours in Iraq where he led hundreds of combat patrols. His decorations include two Bronze Stars, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal. His badges include the Combat Action Badge, Parachutist’s Badge, and Air Assault Badge.

In 2017, he deployed again to the Middle East as an Operational Law Attorney supporting artillery operations and training allied forces on the Law of Armed Conflict. He continues to serve in the Colorado National Guard’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps, where his work includes national security, homeland defense, and disaster-relief operations. Mr. Pigott also provides training to foreign militaries and lectures at the Ted Stevens Center for Arctic Security Studies. From 2018–2022, he represented victims of sexual assault in the military, ensuring they received confidential legal counsel through complex investigations and proceedings.

Mr. Pigott served on the Board of Directors for the Boulder Hockey Club from 2018 to 2025 and is the founder of The Brick Foundation, a nonprofit that began by funding humanitarian projects in Malawi and has since supported initiatives worldwide—from delivering medical supplies in Central America to building student housing and fighting sex trafficking in Cambodia. He previously served with the Broomfield Chamber of Commerce and Broomfield food bank.

An avid hockey player and snowboarder, Mr. Pigott is a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish and enjoys exploring the intersections of law, leadership, and public service.

“Law, at its best, is an act of service — a way to bring order and fairness to moments of chaos.”
— David J. Pigott
